An Interview with Sweetfish

Gandy: Ok first off, what�s the general premise of the game?

Sweetfish: Well, it's a wannabe-oldschool action puzzle in the style of PuyoPuyo and Tetris. But instead of blocks slowly falling down, the main object is to "push" the blocks into the playgrid from below. The main goal is to connect 4 or more same coloured game-blocks to chains, and by doing this collect points, and keep doing it as long as possible (to get the most points). The player loses when the blocks on the playfield touch the top of the playscreen (think Tetris).

There are also �special� blocks that keep falling from above from time to time to keep the player on constant alert. These "special" blocks contains random dangers, i.e. game-speed-increase, rock-block, colour-blindness and such... To get rid of these blocks the player can use power-ups like clear-row, bombs.

Sweetfish: Something like that. :)

Gandy: What language(s) is pushbox being created in?

Sweetfish: C and SDL

Gandy: When do you aim to have pushbox finished?

Sweetfish: Currently I don't have a "public" release-date. But I'm aiming to have a small beta-test in the end of November. (And hopefully the sounds and music should be done by that time also.)

Gandy: Will Pushbox be payware, shareware or freeware?

Sweetfish: Freeware, the source will also probably be available to those who ask of it.

Gandy: Awesome, i'll hold you to that!

Gandy: Any other projects in the pipeline?

Sweetfish: I have some other ideas that I would like to try on the GP2X, but for now I will keep them to myself. :)

Gandy: Thanks for your time, and i can't wait to see this game in action!
